Information and Guidance from Department for Education for families during the COVID-19 Lockdown

 We want to support parents and all educational settings to ensure children and young people’s education can continue.

here is a list of online educational resources which have been identified by some of the country’s leading educational experts to help pupils to learn at home       

For parents with children under 5 years old, who have not yet started school, check out the Hungry Little Minds campaign it features tips and practical activities that you can do at home with children to support their early learning.

There are many simple ways to help your children learn and it does not have to feel like ‘learning’. Having everyday conversations, make-believe play, and reading together, all make a big difference to your child’s development.

Access to Cornwall Libraries

Despite library / school closures as a response to the Covid 19 pandemic, families can continue to access reading material by downloading the BorrowBox app (for free) and registering using their library card number (to gain access to free eBooks and eAudiobooks).
RBDigital is also available (for free) by registering in the same way (to access a range of eComics, including Marvel and Disney).
Cornwall libraries are also still processing library membership applications, if any cards are out of date etc. Once a card number is received, holders will get immediate access to a multitude of free resources, visit www.cornwall.gov.uk/library. 
Cornwall libraries are also running an online Lego Club via the Cornwall Libraries Facebook page, 12pm every Wednesday.
