Cornish Bucca (a water beast)
Towards the end of last year, Year 4 (now Year 5) took part in an art-based project with a local sculpture artist through the company IntoBodmin. This involved the children learning about Cornish mythical creatures through a drama performance by The Cornish Caretakers, then creating their own mythical creatures.
They also built parts of a giant wicker sculpture of a Cornish Bucca (a water beast) that was a part of Bodmin Carnival.
Some of the children attended Bodmin Carnival and loved parading through the streets with their artwork! The Bucca sculpture won second prize at Bodmin Carnival and looked absolutely stunning!
I wanted to say a massive thank you to all children for their incredible art skills, focus and concentration throughout this process but also to those parents who came and supported the children in the carnival as well - they were such a brilliant representation of Berrycoombe School and should be very proud of themselves. Well done!
